Vanilla Garlic is my nifty food blog that I tinker at with essays about life and food that I like to think are humorous or thoughtful. I also work as a freelance writer and a cookbook author. Whether I succeed at any of this debatable.

I gain efficiencies by never spending any of my time purchasing only exactly what I intended when I walked into the store. I use that small bit of time to peruse the useless charcuterie and cheese tray items that my guests won't know what to do with. Also, you should be spending more time assessing wine label attractiveness. It is about the only sensible way you are spending your time there.
I needed the laugh, thanks! I sometimes sidle around the produce aisle, trying not to show that inside my eyes are popping wide with shock at the sticker prices, and wondering who in the world can afford to pay that much for something that can be had, in equally good quality, for about a fifth of the price. Then daydreaming about what ELSE I would do if I had that kind of money. . . . Great chart.
